North Carolina woman wins lottery twice in one day- Is it possible?

Million Dollar Fever winner

In November last year a news flashed that a couple wins lotto twice in one night. This unbelievable story is of a winner, a North Carolina woman who won the lottery twice same day, netting $10,000, then $1 million.

Michelle Shuffler said she and her husband don’t normally play the lottery, but on that particular Sunday, he had a few bucks in his pocket, so they decided to give it a shot. The couple stopped at the Cubbard Express gas station in Lenoir, N.C., and won their $10,000 on a Million Dollar Fever scratch-off ticket. They were in complete disbelief, yet had the wherewithal to press their luck once more.

They  saw that the game had a million dollar prize so they decided, ‘Why not try to beat the odds again?'”

The couple went to the Murphy Express in Granite Falls, about 22 miles from the Lenoir gas station they won at earlier.  They bought another Million Dollar Fever ticket and won the $1 million. What a miracle they had seen.

The winning couple claimed the winnings next day. The lottery said she chose to receive the $1 million in annual payments of $50,000. The alternative was a lump sum of $600,000.

She’s already received her first $50,000, which after taxes, comes out to about $35,000. Now Shuffler plans to use the money for retirement and for her children’s college education.
